PwC’s ‘AI Jobs Barometer’ Find Growing Productivity in AI-Exposed Sectors

Global consultancy PwC recently released what it has called its AI Jobs Barometer, attempting to gauge the impact AI has had on employment, productivity and job requirements. To measure this, the company analyzed more than 500 million job ads in 15 countries across North America, Europe and Asia.

The analysis found that AI’s impact is already considerable: Labor productivity is nearly five times higher in AI-exposed sectors, job growth for positions that require specialist AI skills is 3.5 times higher than all other jobs, and workers with an AI skillset are making 25 percent more in wages than other jobs.

“Our data suggests that AI is already making workers much more productive,” the report’s authors wrote. “Sectors that are especially exposed to AI are experiencing nearly five times higher growth in labor productivity. Growing labor productivity is a key driver of economic growth and rising living standards. Accordingly, AI is good news for a world facing persistently sluggish productivity growth.”
