UiPath FORWARD: How enterprises will transform with agentic automation

As cooler weather arrives, it points the way toward one of the most anticipated annual events on the calendars of automation professionals: UiPath’s FORWARD + TechEd. Taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas from Oct. 21-24, the conference is one of the longest-running events focused on AI and automation and draws more than 4,000 industry professionals annually.

According to UiPath, FORWARD and TechEd are actually two separate learning opportunities—FORWARD with a more strategic, zoomed-out perspective on the trends and issues facing business users, consultants and partners, and enterprise executives, and TechEd with a more interactive, hands-on track focused on the technology, how it is advancing, how to most effectively implement it, and what it makes possible.

The 2024 version of FORWARD + TechEd, which is themed “Transform with AI”, will again devote significant time and consideration to AI and how it has forced an evolution in business process automation with the new horizon of agentic automation now coming into view  “UiPath FORWARD is an event unlike any other in that it brings together thousands of AI and automation professionals from around the world to learn from one another’s automation journeys and share ideas,” said Bobby Patrick, Chief Marketing Officer at UiPath. “Attendees will hear from more than 150 industry experts and get hands-on experience with the latest innovations transforming enterprises. Automation is the catalyst that infuses AI into every task, process, and system.”

UiPath is presenting FORWARD and TechEd as separate experiences targeted at distinct audiences. But any attendee is welcome to pick and choose between the FORWARD sessions and the TechEd sessions. FORWARD will include higher-level keynotes from automation experts including UiPath Founder and CEO Daniel Dines, Chief Product Officer Graham Sheldon, CEO of Humane Intelligence Rumman Chowdhury, Forrester Principal Analyst Craig LeClair, and many others.

There will be discussion on the continuing integration of generative AI into automation platforms, scaling automation projects, advancements in document understanding and processing, and looks at how various verticals are implementing intelligent automation. FORWARD will also cover emerging topics in the space including an enhanced focus this year on AI-driven agentic automation.

According to UiPath, agentic automation is the fusion of industry-leading AI, automation, and orchestration. Agents have AI skills, enabling them to communicate in natural language, plan out the steps to accomplish a task, and coordinate with other robots and agents for process-level outcomes. Organizations can orchestrate automations, AI agents, and humans across many agentic workflows with UiPath.

“It’s time for organizations to step boldly into the agentic era, an era in which automation transcends the ordinary, tackling not just simple automations, but the most complex use cases across organizations,” Patrick said. “Imagine a world where new foundational models, AI agents, and process orchestration converge to create dynamic agentic workflows.”

TechEd, running as part of the event for the third year in a row, is a response to the growing sophistication of organizations as they devote more resources to automation and how data science and AI are increasingly part of that investment. TechEd features deeper dives into the technology itself, promoting a deeper understanding of what automation platforms are capable of.

Hands-on sessions in TechEd include how to build an API connector, the notion of continuous testing within the rapidly growing UiPath Test Suite solution, getting under the hood of intelligent document processing, in-depth discussions with developers, a process mining workshop, and more.

Throughout the event there will be opportunities to speak with UiPath customers about how they are working with the technology, opportunities to gain UiPath Certification, entertainment that includes a performance by music legends Earth, Wind & Fire, and a host of opportunities to network with and learn from a growing community of thousands of AI and automation professionals.
