At a recent conference of government contract and acquisition experts, an official from the U.S. Office of Management and Budget explained how RPA is helping accelerate and improve federal procurement. Lesley Field, a deputy administrator with the OMB’s Office of Federal Procurement Policy spoke at the recent CXO Tech Forum in Washington, D.C.

Part of the way RPA will improve OMB’s mission, she noted, will be to bring organization to the incredible amount of data at its disposal. Field said the 44 million transactions the OMB’s procurement office makes each year yield massive amounts of data. RPA will be an important part of analyzing that data to make its workers and contractors more effective.

“There are datasets out there that we haven’t even figured out how to bring in to make our jobs easier and better,” Field said. “So the data chasing, the data modernization part is something that we’re really going to focus on [the] next couple of years.”
