ABBYY Moves HQ to Austin

Intelligent automation provider ABBYY has joined a growing list of tech companies calling Austin, Texas home. Since the 1990s when Dell Computer began to assert itself as a direct-to-consumer giant, the Texas capital has become home to a thriving technology sector for companies seeking a different environment than older tech hubs on the West and East coasts of the U.S.—notably Silicon Valley.

ABBYY said it is moving its corporate headquarters to Austin’s “Silicon Hills” partly as a signal of a broader transformation of where the automation industry is headed and partly to consolidate its operations, placing its headquarters and product groups in the same facility. It will also bolster its compliance, customer experience and engineering teams with new senior leadership.

“Our move to Austin represents a significant milestone in ABBYY’s transformation,” commented Patrick (PJ) Jean, Chief Technology and Product Officer at ABBYY. “By bringing our product teams closer to our leadership, we will be fostering the collaboration that strengthens our innovation and delivery of AI-driven solutions, ensuring our products continue to lead the market in intelligent automation. I’m excited to work closely with Hopeful, Nick, and the ABBYY leadership team as we push forward on this journey of growth and innovation that also includes expansion of our global development centers in India and Hungary.”

The company said its office in Miltpitas, Calif., the original headquarters site, will remain open.
