
Anthropic, the Bay Area startup that has risen to be one of the most recognizable names in AI development, announced it has raised a Series E funding round worth $3.5 billion, resulting in a $61.5 billion post-money valuation.
The company said its most recent model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, will be able to serve as a true collaborator, working alongside teams to tackle complex projects, synthesize information across fields, and help organizations achieve outsized impact.
In the funding announcement, Anthropic used Replit, Thomson Reuters and Novo Nordisk as examples of organizations that have leveraged Claude to automate tasks like writing code and generating clinical study reports in minutes.
Lightspeed Venture Partners led the multi-billion dollar raise, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Cisco Investments, D1 Capital Partners, Fidelity Management & Research Company, General Catalyst, Jane Street, Menlo Ventures and Salesforce Ventures, among others.
