Global technology consultancy Deloitte has launched an Open Model Engineering practice to help enterprises implement AI-based automation using open models and open-source frameworks alongside proprietary technologies.
The London-based firm says the practice will initially serve clients in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, focusing on flexibility, cost management, data sovereignty and control over intellectual property and model behavior.
The practice will help organizations choose among proprietary and open models, agentic AI platforms, cloud services and on-premises infrastructure based on individual workloads. Deloitte also plans to help clients fine-tune open models for geographic, linguistic and cultural requirements and manage the costs associated with increasing agentic AI usage.
“Organizations need flexibility in how they build and use AI,” said Sundhar Sekhar, chief services officer at Deloitte. “Deloitte’s Open Model Engineering practice helps clients choose the right mix of AI models, cloud services, and on-premises infrastructure for each workload.”
Initially, the company said, the practice will focus on enterprise AI applications built on Nvidia’s Nemotron family of open models and NIM microservices. Deloitte also plans to use its Zora AI digital workforce platform to enable organizations to deploy and govern AI agents based on open models within their own environments.
