With their eyes firmly fixed on the benefits RPA can deliver to companies in the form of efficiency gains, boosts in productivity and cost reduction, many organizations are not paying enough attention to security, according to a new report from cybersecurity firm CyberArk.
In The CISO View: Protecting Privileged Access in Robotic Process Automation, CyberArk said less than half of all organizations surveyed have a privileged access management strategy in place for digital transformation technologies like RPA, leaving them vulnerable to cyber-attack. The report details some of the attacks experienced by early RPA adopters and makes recommendations for restricting access to RPA tools and mandating secure practices for developing robot scripts.
“From finance and HR to manufacturing, organizations are rapidly adopting RPA to drive new efficiencies for their business and deliver innovative services to customers,” said Marianne Budnik, CMO of CyberArk. “This report provides a playbook for organizations to embrace security in a way that enables the business and helps RPA projects move forward as part of key digital transformation initiatives.”
