Honeywell, Qualcomm Partner on AI Agents

Honeywell, the Charlotte, N.C.-based technology conglomerate, recently announced that it is working with Qualcomm to develop AI-driven intelligent agents for mobile devices that will enable workers across a range of industries to streamline their operations.

The company said the agents will automate workflows for workers and customers on their handheld devices in retail environments and distribution centers. Honeywell is calling the solution a Multi-Modal Intelligent Agent because it leverages generative AI enabling users to interact “naturally” with their devices through voice, pictures and barcodes, answering questions asked in plain language like “Do we have the gluten-free variant of this product in stock?” or “Where can I find this particular item in the store?”.

“Utilizing our strengths in on-device generative AI, high-performance and low power computing, this collaboration with Honeywell underscores our commitment to pioneering innovative solutions that will propel the expansion of the connected intelligent edge,” said Nakul Duggal, group general manager of automotive, industrial and embedded IoT, and cloud computing at Qualcomm Technologies. “[The technology] represents a significant step forward in utilizing advanced edge AI to streamline operations and elevate customer interactions across industries.”

The companies expect the solution to be available in early 2025.
