IDC Names ‘Leaders’ in IDP Market Assessment

As the market for AI-powered intelligent automation grows, the component technologies of the platforms that deliver it are becoming more complex. Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), a capability that supports orchestration and decision-making based on content extracted from documents, has existed on its own and as part of process automation platforms for some time. As automation platforms proliferate, interest in IDP tools is surging.

In its IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Intelligent Document Processing Software 2025–2026 Vendor Assessment ($), Boston-based market intelligence provider IDC has evaluated 18 vendors in the IDP market and named ABBYY, Google, Hyland, Hyperscience, Open Text, SER Group, Tungsten Automation and UiPath as “Leaders” in the space.

“We are firmly in the GenAI era, with the agentic future rapidly approaching, and IDC has seen a significant evolution in the capabilities and strategies offered by IDP software vendors,” said Andrew Gens, senior research analyst for Computer Vision AI Tools and Technologies at IDC, in the report. “Driven by the ongoing development of new and more sophisticated multimodal generative AI models, the evaluated vendors have been rapidly extending their existing offerings or launching entirely new IDP software products to capitalize on these models’ capabilities. With the emergence of so many swiftly advancing AI technologies, many customers are having to race to keep up.”

In addition to the providers listed above, IDC also evaluated Adobe, Appian, Automation Anywhere, AWS, Datamatics, EdgeVerve Systems, IBM, KnowledgeLake, Microsoft and Rossum for the report.
