With its 1.3 billion citizens and its status as the most populous democracy in the world, India is an important source for global tech talent in addition to being an important market for technology products. And, intelligent automation technology is one of the technologies gaining prominence in the country, according to a new report from global consultancy PwC and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

The report, released at a recent conference, predicts sales of intelligent automation solutions in India will grow to around $350 million in 2024. Driven in part by the pandemic, companies are leveraging automation to find additional productivity and efficiency that will make them more resilient in the face of future economic disruptions.

“Organizations need to transform themselves into modern workplaces that enable the synergy between their human and machine workforce, with the former assuming responsibilities for strategic and customer-centric initiatives and the latter executing repetitive activities,” the authors wrote in the report.

In 2020, 94.7 percent of Indian organizations fast-tracked some digital transformation initiative, the report found.
