RPA technology provider Kryon says it is the first major RPA vendor to earn ISO 27701 certification for data privacy, an achievement it thinks will eventually become widely adopted among RPA providers.

The certification, administered by global standard-setting body the International Organization for Standardization, is a framework enabling businesses to more easily and fully comply with data privacy regulations including the EU’s GDPR and California’s CCPA.

As software bots begin to automate more and more processes, it is inevitable they will encounter and handle an increasing amount of sensitive personal data. Security and governance will become more important as this evolution continues and bots are targeted more often as a vector to illegally access this information.

“An increasing number of healthcare, financial services, insurance, call centers, and technology organizations are creating RPA projects that require access to large amounts of personal data that must be protected,” said Shay Antebi, CTO of Kryon. “By becoming the first major RPA provider to achieve ISO 27701 certification, Kryon demonstrates our increased commitment to privacy regulation compliance. It is one way to assure our customers that data privacy is a top priority and sets a foundation for the secure processing and storage of their most valuable asset, the personal information of customers, employees, and partners.”
