Quadrant Knowledge Solutions, a global technology consultant based in India, has released its annual evaluation of the robotic process automation software market. The company, which produces a “SPARK Matrix” report for dozens of technology sectors, named nine RPA platform providers in its top category—UiPath, NICE, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Appian, Nintex, WorkFusion, Datamatics and Automation Edge.

The consultancy ranked 18 companies in the RPA space on two axes—”customer impact” and “technology excellence.” It separates them according to their position on the matrix into “aspirants,” “challengers” and “leaders.”

RPA technology evaluated by Quadrant Knowledge Solutions for the report include solutions from: Appian, Automation Anywhere, AutomationEdge, Blue Prism, Datamatics, EdgeVerve, ElectroNeek, HelpSystems, Hyland, IBM, Microsoft, NICE, Nintex, Pegasystems, Qruize, SAP, UiPath and WorkFusion.

“Organizations are utilizing RPA because it offers an accessible way to become digital by easily transforming and automating complex business processes,” said Pranjal Singh, analyst at Quadrant Knowledge Solutions. “RPA adoption is increasing due to increased automation by global enterprises and its advanced capabilities such as process discovery and mining, task mining, and optical character recognition (OCR) support.”
