PayPal Launches Agentic Commerce Services to Power AI-Driven Shopping

PayPal has introduced a new suite of agentic commerce services designed to help merchants integrate with the emerging world of AI-powered commerce. The offering is built on PayPal’s established payments infrastructure and aims to connect merchants’ product data and transaction flows directly with AI platforms.

At launch, the suite includes an agentic payments solution called Agent Ready and a catalog and order management system called Store Sync. These services enable merchants to make their products discoverable on AI shopping surfaces while maintaining control over customer data and brand relationships.

PayPal has partnered with e-commerce platforms including Wix, Cymbio, BigCommerce, Feedonomics and Shopware to help merchants on-board quickly. Early integrations on the AI side include Perplexity and PayPal’s own shopping-agent experience now in testing.

This announcement builds on PayPal’s recent effort with Mastercard to expand their partnership into agentic commerce transactions. That prior deal integrates Mastercard’s Agent Pay Acceptance Framework into PayPal’s wallet to support agent-driven purchases via tokenization and authentication. The current launch strengthens that foundation by offering merchants the front-end and orchestration layers needed to operate in AI-driven channels, while the earlier partnership addresses the payment-rails and authentication layer. Together, the two announcements signal a broader push by PayPal to position itself and its merchant base for the agentic commerce era.

“As AI is driving the next wave of innovation in how payments are made and managed,” said Michelle Gill, general manager of Small Business and Financial Services at PayPal. “Our agentic commerce services support leading payments protocols and AI platforms, directly connecting PayPal merchants to millions of consumers who are now using agent platforms for their day-to-day shopping needs.”
