Part of the global response to the Covid-19 pandemic has been an acceleration of digital transition by businesses, which has included automation initiatives. According to a new survey, however, only 37 percent of organizations are confident they have the technology and skills to keep pace with the demands of the current environment.

RPA and other automation software often relies on getting systems connected properly. The study, conducted by Salesforce’s subsidiary MuleSoft, found that 60 percent of those polled said the inability to connect applications, systems and data will hinder automation initiatives.

“This research shows data is one of the most critical assets that businesses need to move fast and thrive into the future,” said Brent Hayward, CEO of MuleSoft. “Organizations need to empower every employee to unlock and integrate data — no matter where it resides — to deliver critical, time-sensitive projects and innovation at scale, while making products and services more connected than ever.”
