Hyperautomation and RPA were cited in a recent report as technologies that will help drive a 6 percent surge in IT spending by Indian businesses in 2021. According to an analysis by global consultancy Gartner, IT spending in India will reach nearly $82 billion next year as companies there ramp technology investment back up after retrenchment in 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic emerged and strengthened.

“The Covid-19 pandemic stalled many digital transformation projects for Indian enterprises, mainly because of the market uncertainties and reduced cash flows,” said Arup Roy, research vice president at Gartner. “Organizations that were digitally sound in a pre-pandemic world could contain the impact on their business. The pandemic situation was a wake-up call for many organizations to relook and revive their IT strategies and increase their spending on IT in 2021.”

According to the report, CIOs in 2021 will focus spending on initiatives that advance and accelerate digitization efforts. Gartner predicts spending will increase on technologies including advanced analytical solutions and hyperautomation enabling systems. The report noted RPA, AI, and machine learning will also experience an increase in spending.
