NEWS FOR THE AI-POWERED INTELLIGENT AUTOMATION ECOSYSTEM

WestFax Releases AI Document Processing Platform for Healthcare

WestFax, a Denver area provider of HIPAA-compliant fax solutions, has launched an AI-powered intelligent document processing platform designed to automate the intake and handling of medical documents.

The company said its WestFax Comprehend platform is available across all tiers of its cloud fax services and is designed to convert unstructured healthcare documents into structured data that can be routed through automated clinical and administrative workflows.

Healthcare providers continue to rely heavily on fax and other document-based processes for referrals, lab results, insurance forms and prior authorizations. The company said its platform uses optical character recognition and AI models aligned with the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources standard to classify documents, extract patient and provider data and route information into downstream systems.

According to an announcement, WestFax Comprehend can ingest documents from multiple sources, including cloud fax, secure file transfer and cloud storage. A centralized intake architecture called Streams allows IT teams to manage document intake workflows, apply routing rules and identify urgent requests or multi-patient documents.

The platform also integrates with electronic health record systems and third-party storage environments through built-in connectors. These include integrations with services from Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google and Dropbox.

“We designed WestFax Comprehend to reduce administrative burden while preserving clinical integrity,” said Barry Clark, president of WestFax. “Healthcare teams rely on stable document infrastructure. Comprehend enhances those workflows with practical AI automation that fits into the systems providers already trust.”
