The U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) recently showcased the winners of an RPA competition among reservists. After a 10-week course, three dozen members of the Army Reserve and other military branches participated in The Rise of the Digital Soldier Challenge to develop RPA bots, according to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVID).

The challenge was organized by the Army Reserve’s Continuous Process Improvement Office (CPIO) and supported by the U.S. Air Force Robotic Process Automation Center of Excellence in partnership with RPA technology provider UiPath. All participants received UiPath industry Citizen Developer Certification and access to the UiPath developer online academy.

A team from the USAR’s 75th Innovation Command won awards in three of the four categories: Best Overall Concept Bot Awards, Best Business Impact Bot Award and Best Impact to Morale Bot Award. The final category, Best Team Collaboration Bot Award, went to a group from the 126th Cyber Protection Battalion of the Massachusetts National Guard.

“Through this competition, we are reducing the burden of low-value work,” Maj. Benji B. Brown, CPIO deputy director, told DVID. “We are improving standardization while increasing productivity and employee morale at all levels of the organization.”
