Generative AI has been garnering outsized headlines since its introduction to the public by Open AI’s Chat GPT in late 2022. And the race to integrate the technology as a way to supercharge enterprise automation solutions is creating the next generation of business process automation using models that fit the needs of specific industries and functions, according to a new report from ISG.

In its 2023 ISG Provider Lens Intelligent Automation Services and Solutions ($) report, the Stamford, Conn.-based research firm finds demand for AI-powered intelligent automation solutions is growing as businesses begin to better understand the applications and the results they can achieve.

“Intelligent automation does more than cut costs. It can help enterprises anticipate and quickly respond to new opportunities,” said Chip Wagner, CEO, ISG Automation. “Service providers are working with clients to mitigate implementation challenges and get results from automation.”

The report also serves as an evaluation of consultants and service providers that advise businesses as they adopt and implement automation technology. ISG said it looked at 37 providers across three automation sectors: Intelligent Enterprise Automation, Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps) and Next-Gen Automation. Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, HCLTech, IBM, Infosys, LTIMindtree, TCS and Wipro are “Leaders” in all three sectors. Deloitte, Hexaware and Tech Mahindra were tabbed as “Leaders” in two disciplines each. Genpact, PwC and WNS-Vuram are each named as “Leaders” in one.
