While more than 137,000 tech workers have lost their jobs so far in 2024 according to layoffs.fyi, one bright spot for the industry has been in the AI space. And, if you live on the East Coast and especially in the mid-Atlantic region, employment prospects seem positive.
An analysis of LinkedIn and Glassdoor job postings by Getac found that, on a per capita basis, Virginia topped the list of states with the most AI-related job openings, followed by Maryland, Washington, Massachusetts, California, Delaware and New York.
Some of the job titles with openings available in the analysis include Artificial Intelligence (AI) Pilots Project Manager, AI Technical Writer, AI Solution Sales Specialist, Generative AI Specialist, Artificial Intelligence Integration Systems Engineer, and AI Engineer.
More than 21,000 openings are represented in the top 10 states in Getac’s research. By raw numbers, California had the most available positions with more than 6,700.
