The General Services Administration (GSA) has steadily expanded the reach of its Centers of Excellence (CoE) program that is, among other things, helping various departments in the United States federal government identify opportunities for and implement RPA programs. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is the most recent agency to partner with GSA in an effort to modernize and automate its highly manual processes.

GAO has sought GSA’s help establishing its newly announced Innovation Lab, which it says will transform “the way GAO thinks about and uses advanced analytical capabilities.” RPA is a priority among those capabilities and GSA has assisted other federal agencies, including the Department of Labor, by making its CoE program available to them.

“Today’s announcement illustrates the momentum of the CoE to deliver outcomes that drive mission effectiveness,” said Anil Cheriyan, director of the Technology Transformation Services, the GSA team that houses the CoEs. “Putting innovation at the core of everything we do, we’re excited to engage with GAO and provide guidance along their exciting journey.”

In addition to GAO and Labor, The Departments of Agriculture, Housing and Urban Development, Defense, the Office of Personnel Management and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have all explored RPA opportunities with the GSA’s help.
