SS&C Blue Prism and Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) are partnering to accelerate process automation for the U.K.’s publicly funded healthcare system. This agreement with NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) will enable NHS to bring intelligent automation technology to more units within NHS including HR.

As more NHS organizations begin to implement automation solutions, the companies say benefits will be visible to patients. Under the agreement, SS&C Blue Prism said in an announcement, faster patient processing should result in shorter wait times for care, improvements to contact center communications will keep them better informed and new engagement models will result in a better user experience. Back office improvements in HR, procurement and finance should also positively affect patient care.

“We’re proud to be supporting the NHS to deliver better care to citizens across the country,” said Patrick Shephard, director of Healthcare at SS&C Blue Prism. “With this partnership, we are bringing the power of intelligent automation technologies such as artificial intelligence and business process management to over 40 percent of the NHS. Our work not only offers much-needed support to healthcare organizations, patients and workers in England but also shows the value of automation in a challenging period for the healthcare sector.”
