UiPath, Tricentis Among Gartner’s ‘Leaders’ in Software Testing

As enterprises increasingly rely on AI to accelerate software development, the technology is also playing a growing role in ensuring the quality of the applications they produce. Gartner has released its latest Magic Quadrant evaluating providers of software testing technology, naming Keysight, TestMu AI, Tricentis and UiPath as “Leaders” in the category.

The Stamford, Conn.-based technology research and advisory firm evaluated 12 vendors in its 2026 Magic Quadrant for Agentic Software Quality Assurance Platforms, assessing their Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. UiPath, better known for its business process automation technology, was positioned highest for Ability to Execute, while Tricentis ranked highest for Completeness of Vision.

The report reflects the growing use of AI agents to automate software testing activities that traditionally have required significant human intervention. The technology can help organizations generate, execute and maintain software tests, identify defects and improve the efficiency of quality assurance processes.

Gartner acknowledged the evolution of the technology by changing the name of the category from AI-Augmented Software Testing Tools, which it used in last year’s report, to Agentic Software Quality Assurance Platforms.

According to Gartner, software testing vendors have expanded beyond AI-assisted tools to platforms that use specialized agents to continuously assure software quality throughout the development lifecycle.

“The speed and volume of software development is only increasing, placing added burdens on quality engineering and assurance teams tasked with making sure that software moves quickly from build to production,” said Gerd Weishaar, senior vice president of Product, Testing Solutions at UiPath.

In all, Gartner evaluated 12 technology providers, up from 10 in 2025. In addition to the four Leaders, the report evaluated ACCELQ, Katalon, mabl, OpenText, Perforce Software, QyrusAI, Sauce Labs and SmartBear.
