The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is continuing a trend of providing college- and graduate-level educational opportunities in business programs around automation and RPA. UTD’s Naveen Jindal School of Management has developed a new course for the academic year beginning in August of 2021 that will focus on low-code automation. The institution is partnering with software provider Appian, which will make its low-code development platform available to UTD students, enabling them to get hands-on experience in building automations.

According to a joint announcement, students will be using Appian’s platform to learn skills including process orchestration, process modelling, process re-engineering, RPA and intelligent document processing. Those who complete the course will be certified as Appian Level 1 Developers.

“UTD is committed to preparing our students for rewarding lives and productive careers in a constantly changing world,” said Assistant Professor Gaurav Shekhar, who will teach the course and is program director of the Master of Science in Business Analytics Flex and Online programs in the Jindal School. “Low-code development and automation skills are in high demand by businesses in the Dallas area and around the world, creating exciting new career opportunities for students who master those technologies.”

Appian has partnered with UTD on educational initiatives since 2018, but this is the first course devoted specifically to learning low-code automation principles.
