Imaging pioneer Xerox made two recent organizational moves related to the RPA and intelligent automation space.

First, the Norwalk, Conn.-based company said it has acquired a small IT consulting business based in Vermont that will bolster the services it can provide to small businesses, including advice on automating business processes. Xerox acquired Competitive Computing  out of the understanding that even small businesses are more reliant than ever on technology and digital transformation, even though they may not have resources on hand capable of implementing it.

The company will become part of Xerox IT Services, which offers workflow documentation and automation for small business clients. The addition of Competitive Computing will enhance Xerox’s ability to deliver those services, the company said.

Xerox also announced the formation of an augmented reality software business called CareAR that will provide AR capabilities for service workforces. The first major investor in the new business is ServiceNow, a digital workflow software provider, which earlier this year acquired Indian RPA application developer Intellibot.

ServiceNow will integrate its workflow platform into CareAR to automate work orders, cases and incidents for service providers.
