George Mason University has announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) the two institutions expect will enable DoD to supercharge digital transformation and automation initiatives. George Mason is one of a few but growing number of universities that are offering a formal educational track for students interested in RPA and intelligent automation, focused on efforts in the public sector.

Just last month, GMU announced it had assembled a Board of Advisors for its RPA initiative that included several members with extensive public-sector automation experience. Under the current agreement with the JAIC, the school will take advantage of the new Board’s expertise and others within the program to develop strategic messaging and best practices in support of the group’s efforts to modernize the DoD into a more efficient agency.

“We are honored to be invited as the first academic institution to work on RPA with JAIC and to contribute with our expertise to the mission initiatives of JAIC and DoD’s business transformation efforts,” said Dr. Rehr, the RPA Initiative co-founder. “This engagement will allow us to provide subject matter support to the DoD RPA Guidance Committee objectives and to participate in forums about the benefits and best practices of RPA.”

The JAIC said it will leverage GMU’s expertise to advise members of its Intelligent Automation Subcommittee and the DoD RPA Guidance Committee.
