A San Jose-area company has launched an automation platform that harkens back to the founding philosophy of RPA, but for an agentic AI age. Workspot has unveiled GUIDE, a workflow automation platform that uses AI-powered GUI agents to automate tasks performed within desktop and web applications.
Workspot describes GUIDE as an “alternative approach to traditional robotic process automation,” enabling automation through direct interaction with graphical user interfaces rather than APIs or predefined integrations.
According to Workspot, users can create automations by describing workflows in natural language. The platform then generates GUI agents that carry out tasks within applications in a manner similar to how employees interact with software.
“Most real work is performed manually by employees across documents, Web applications and Windows applications,” said Amitabh Sinha, CEO and co-founder of Workspot. “GUIDE leverages the power of LLMs to enable anyone to automate any workflow in an enterprise.”
The company said the platform can be applied to a range of use cases, including financial reporting, compliance processes, manual data entry, IT operations and sales-related data aggregation.
The announcement reflects a growing industry focus on AI agents that can operate across enterprise applications without requiring extensive process redesign or application programming interfaces.
Workspot said GUIDE runs within virtual desktop environments in the cloud and includes centralized governance and management capabilities intended to support enterprise deployments.
