The past week brought a slew of product announcements, updates and partnership agreements from all corners of the RPA world.

ABBYY, a Bay Area company specializing in process intelligence, recently launched version 5.0 of its Timeline product. The platform enables companies to leverage new “task mining” capabilities in its process mining technology for more visibility into business processes they are looking to automate. The task mining capabilities, according to ABBYY, are able to more easily identify repetitive tasks, account for variabilities in task execution that might result in compliance violations in an automated environment and integrate task intelligence into overall process analysis for a more comprehensive understanding of an organization’s processes.

London-based Blue Prism announced it has released new capabilities designed specifically for its customers who are using SAP enterprise resource planning software. The company said Blue Prism Accelerators are prebuilt automation components companies can download and integrate with existing Blue Prism bots that have specific SAP competencies for financial accounting, sales and distribution, materials management, and other modules.

UiPath announced two partnerships this week. One, with a Canadian cybersecurity firm called eSentire, will enable companies to automate their response to cyber-attacks. The collaboration between UiPath and eSentire will allow companies to reduce the volume of threats that require human intervention, enabling security teams to identify and focus on the most dangerous threats.

UiPath’s other partnership hopes to address the oft-acknowledged shortage of tech talent in the U.S. The RPA provider is partnering with Revature, a marketplace for tech talent to match with employers. Under the agreement, Revature will provide RPA training for its enterprise clients based on UiPath’s training curriculum and content.

As organizations look for more front-office opportunities to deploy RPA, the contact center has emerged as a leading environment.  Conversational service automation company Uniphore has exclusively licensed RPA technology provided by IT services giant NTT DATA it says will result in reduced call handling times and fewer customers put on hold. Uniphore said, for large enterprises, having RPA technology built into the solution means the individual modules don’t need to be managed separately, saving time and money.
