T-Pro Acquires BigHand Healthcare to Expand Clinical Documentation Automation

Technology providers in the healthcare space continue to make moves enabling AI-driven automation. Most recently, Dublin, Ireland-based T-Pro said it has acquired BigHand Healthcare to bolster its clinical documentation business.

The acquisition combines T-Pro’s ambient voice technology with BigHand Healthcare’s workflow orchestration software. The companies said the combined businesses will help healthcare organizations automate clinical documentation and administrative workflows while integrating with existing electronic health record systems.

London-based BigHand has operated in the healthcare sector for more than 15 years, serving NHS trusts, private hospitals and general practices. Under the agreement, BigHand Healthcare employees and customers will transition to T-Pro. The combined organization will employ nearly 200 people focused on healthcare documentation technology.

The acquisition comes as healthcare providers continue to evaluate AI tools to reduce administrative workloads and improve operational efficiency.

“The NHS, for example, is increasingly focused on how AI can be deployed safely and effectively within real clinical environments,” said Jonathan Larbey, CEO of T-Pro. “We believe the successful adoption of AI in healthcare depends on deep workflow integration, operational reliability, governance and proven deployment capability across complex healthcare organizations.”

T-Pro said its platform integrates with more than 250 electronic patient record and patient administration systems and is used by healthcare organizations in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
